2010 OK2A Legislative Agenda
The Oklahoma Second Amendment Association (OK2A) pledges to never back down in the effort to defend our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Unfortunately, overreaching politicians and bureaucrats have already denied us some of our rights. OK2A has adopted the following agenda for the 2010 State Legislative Session that begins in February, 2010. This agenda is designed to protect the rights we still have and to regain the rights we have lost. We hope you join us in this effort!
OPEN CARRY
Oklahoma is one of only a hand full of states do not have open carry. Last year, Representative Sue Tibbs (R-Tulsa) refused to allow HB 1414 to be heard in the committee she chairs. Let her know that this bill needs to be heard. You may call her at (405) 557-7379.
CAMPUS CARRY
After Virginia Tech and the many other instances of violence on college campuses, it is clear that we need to allow those who have already been screened and permitted to carry concealed weapons everywhere else to do so on college campuses also. We support Representative Jason Murphey’s (R-Guthrie) campus carry bill.

OPT OUT OF FEDERAL REGISTRY PROGRAMS
OK2A supports Senator Randy Brogdon’s effort to pass legislation mandating that Oklahoma will not participate in any federal firearms registration program. History has shown that registration programs are often only a precursor to firearms confiscation. OK2A is opposed to any attempt, whether overt or backdoor, to register firearms and we applaud Senator Brogdon for authoring this bill.
IN STATE TRANSACTIONS
Montana and Tennessee have passed laws stating that firearms made within the state and sold within the state are not subject to regulation by the national government. Since those firearms never leave the state, they cannot be regulated on the grounds of interstate commerce. We support similar legislation in Oklahoma.
